This service is a Medicaid Waiver Service that assists individuals who either live at home, with a family member or on their own, to maintain or develop the highest level of independence possible for them. The individuals work on goals to build independent living skills in such areas as:
General Household Chores
Personal Health Care
Appropriate Social Skills
Community Habilitation with Brigette
Brigette Duvall has been with Allegany Regional Development Corporation (ARDC) since 2015 as a Community Habilitation Specialist. Brigette graduated from Cuba-Rushford High School, then moved onto Jamestown Community College where she earned her Associates Degree in Human Services. Prior to starting with ARDC Brigette had worked as a CNA for over seven years.
She is the mother of three children, including two girls and one boy who keep her very busy with all of their sporting events and clubs they attend. Brigette enjoys spending time with her family and supporting her children by being at (almost) all school/sporting events.
Community Habilitation with Sheldon
Sheldon Kenyon joined Allegany Regional Development Corporation in 2017. He was born in Olean, NY and has lived in Cattaraugus County his entire life. Sheldon graduated from Salamanca High School and attended college at the University of Pittsburg where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. He returned to college in 2001 and attended school at SUNY Fredonia where he earned a second Bachelor's degree in Childhood Education. Sheldon went on to earn his Master’s degree in General Education through Walden University. Before coming to Allegany Regional, Sheldon worked as a substitute teacher, then taught 5th grade at Cattaraugus-Little Valley School. He later moved on to Cattaraugus Community Action where he worked for several years in the Human Services field. Sheldon enjoys playing guitar, reading, watching movies and spending time with family and friends. He is looking forward to working with and learning from the individuals we serve.
